When should I report a defect?
It is important to report a defect as soon as it is noticed, preferably within a short period after purchase or the start of product use.
European regulations establish that consumers have up to two years from the date of purchase to enforce their legal warranty, but it is advisable to act promptly to facilitate the assessment of the problem.
If the defect appears within the first six months after purchase, it is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery, unless the seller proves otherwise.
After six months, it may be necessary to provide additional evidence that the problem is due to a manufacturing defect and not to normal wear or improper use.
For purchases made with a VAT number for professional purposes, the legal warranty is reduced to one year. In any case, the defect must be reported within two months of its discovery in order to use the warranty.
